Learning Thai is challenging and rewarding, but it doesn’t always have to feel like hard work. One suggestion is to study topics or do activities that you’re interested in.
Do you like cooking? Do a search for “ตำราอาหาร” (cookbook) and try to follow a recipe written in Thai. Learning to read and write in Thai is that much easier when there’s a tasty Thai dish waiting for you at the end. How about Thai music? Search on youtube.com for the karaoke video of your favorite Thai song, and sing along to your heart’s content. If you’re not sure where to start, try “คาราบาว” (Carabao) and “ปาน” (Parn), two of the most popular Thai artists today. If you’ve spent any time in Phuket, Thailand, there’s a good chance that you’ve heard them before.
