Kathu Street Culture festival – 4-6 August

Coming up this weekend is the fourth annual Kathu Street Culture Festival on Wichitsongkram Road. It gets bigger and better every year!

Kathu is located between Patong and Phuket Town and although the area itself isn’t on the average tourist’s must-see list, the Kathu Street Culture festival definitely should be.

The event will run from August 4-6 and it celebrates the rich history and culture of Kathu. A colourful parade will kick off the event at 5:30pm, featuring traditional costumes and highlighting the Chinese influence and the past tin mining industry that the area was so well known for. The street will be lined with stalls selling all sorts of delicious (and cheap) Thai treats, arts and crafts. Live music, dance, stage shows and exhibitions will keep you entertained for hours.

Most tourists don’t know about this local festival and it’s a chance for you to get a glimpse at the real Phuket. It’s only 10 minutes drive from Patong – see you there!
