Songkran holiday coming up

Has anyone else noticed it’s getting pretty warm here in Phuket? That can only mean one thing … Songkran is almost here!

What started out as a quiet ceremony where water was poured over people with care as a blessing, has evolved over the years into what we see today – a fun and lively water fight. It’s a welcome way to cool down during the hottest time of year. Songkran is also a time for families to come together – flights and buses will be filled with Thai people returning to their hometowns to spend the holiday with loved ones.

If you haven’t experienced Songkran (Thai New Year) in Patong Beach, you haven’t lived. On 13 April, get your waterproof phone case ready, put on a brightly coloured shirt, grab a water gun and come join in the mayhem (just make sure you check out our Songkran tips here first).

We don’t want our staff to miss out on any of the fun, so Patong Language School will be closed for one week, from 9-16 April. Classes will start again on Monday 17 April.
